I am a 55 year old male self taught painter that developed an interest and desire for painting that came on in a sudden burst. After a very bad auto accident in February 2015 where I suffered a severe concussion, I developed an interest in creating fields of color and applied my interest to paint on paper and canvas. I became extremely immersed in the study of Abstract Expressionism, especially the period of the 1940’s and 50’s, in painters such as Willem de Kooning, Jackson Pollock, Robert Motherwell, Joan Mitchell and Joan Miro. I studied and became fascinated with their approach to painting, the emotion and physicality that was presented in their works. I discovered that Art/Painting could effect the entire body, both mind and physically, this was the the approach to painting that the Abstract Expressionist took and is the approach that I apply to my work.
When I create my paintings I want to present a field of color and the emotions both mentally and physically that I am applying to the canvas.
