My primary focus as a photographer is to create work that pushes the boundary of the medium and truly challenges the viewer to question what they see. I strongly draw from the visual language of Constructivism and the Modernist painting aesthetic as a framework to transform found spaces. Using the lens as a means of finding and isolating spaces, I manipulate light and perspective to construct spaces out of previously existing architecture that simultaneously evoke depth and flatness. The resulting works manifest a conversation about photography’s correlation to reality, and how the image maker can create an abstract work that is strongly rooted in the context of what already exists.
