Sizhu Li

SL profile

Sizhu Li grew up in Mianyang City, Sichuan Province of Southwest China, one cradle of Chinese indigenous civilization. Throughout her life, she has always been fascinated by creating magic worlds based upon her understandings towards the human society, nature and the universe. This interest was cultivated in her early age and further prospered during her college time at the China Central Academy of Fine Arts, where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Illustration in 2016. In her graduation book, she depicted an organic world from her inner memories and inspirations of Sanxingdui, one world-famous heritage site from her hometown. In June 2018, Sizhu got her Master of Fine Arts in Mt. Royal, a multi-disciplinary program at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). During her two years at MICA, she made multiple pieces of artwork embedding her explorations of new materials, digital interactive control, and installation art. Here she also had her first solo show in Oct. 2017, and two group shows at MICA and BWI airport in May and Aug. 2018, respectively. Upon her graduation, she was awarded the 2018 Toby Devan Lewis Fellowship, the largest graduate fellowship for academic excellence in art creativity at MICA. Currently, she is living in the city of New York as a freelance artist.
