Through my work I attempt to create an illustration of the way I observe the world around me. I pull from experiences from youth and juxtapose those against what I have learned and experienced over the years. I am particularly fascinated by the way societal phenomena have been rationalized and communicated through entertainment media. I attempt to look back at the media I absorbed as a child and recreate those experiences as an adult in order to understand whether or not they have helped or hindered my understanding of the world around me. Some of these messages bring about a sense of calm perspective and others create more questions. Each successive work is the furthering of that message, leaving room for more investigation.
