Carolyn Phillips

With a career that began in 1970, Mrs. Carolyn Phillips is a legendary figure in the Baltimore arts and fashion community. Over five decades, she has walked more than 100 runways, from the high-stakes stages of New York Fashion Week to local charity galas, proving that elegance, poise, and influence only deepen with time.
Carolyn’s striking presence has graced the pages of over 25 featured fashion magazines. A pioneer for women of color and bald women in the industry, she has spent over 50 years shattering the “glass ceiling” of ageism and beauty standards. Her portfolio includes collaborations with international photographers and designers, yet she remains a dedicated champion of Baltimore’s creative talent.
Beyond her work in front of the lens, Carolyn is a visionary producer and philanthropist. She is the founder of her own signature benefit fashion shows, including the notable Bald, Beautiful, and Bold series, which raises funds and awareness for alopecia, cancer, and domestic violence.
As a mentor to countless aspiring models, Carolyn serves as a bridge between fashion’s past and future. Whether she is leading the Mahogany’s Rainbow Models (founded in 1980) or coaching newcomers, her mission remains the same: to empower others to walk with confidence, integrity, and grace.
