Andrea Sauer
Andrea Sauer paints watercolors with bold compositions and colors that are lush and unexpected. She enjoys painting still life, children, and landscapes. Many of her images create a push-pull relationship between the foreground and background. The realistic images contrast dramatically with a background, where the use of wet-on-wet paint creates organic shapes and abstract patterns.
Andrea attended Maryland Institute, College of Art to receive both her Bachelors of Fine Art (BFA) and Masters of Art Teaching (MAT). She has exhibited her work with several galleries and art societies. Among these are the Baltimore Watercolor Society, the American Watercolor Society, the Philadelphia Watercolor Society, The Torpedo Factory, Montpelier Cultural Arts Center, and the Gaithersburg Art Barn. Most recently, her art work was displayed at the 109th Catharine Lorrilard Wolfe International Show at the National Arts Club. Andrea was also juried into the Georgetown International Arts Show and the Philadelphia Watercolor Show.
In 2006, Andrea was selected by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art as one of the top 12 emerging artists in the United States. She was also juried into the Art In Embassies Program and has work featured in the Tajikistan Embassy.
Andrea currently resides in Bel Air, Maryland with her husband, two children, and two dogs. Her work is currently on exhibition at HorseSpirit Arts Gallery in Historic Ellicott City
