Ashley Wilder

Ashley Wilder is a self-taught contemporary artist from Baltimore, Maryland, specializing in acrylic and oil paintings. Her style is modern with a nod to history and post-impressionism. Since 2013, she continued to deliberately include her church upbringing and study of history in her artwork. For instance, her work in the Tigon series featured women adorned with head-wraps in the style enslaved and creole women wore in Antebellum Louisiana. In a climate where history is under constant threat of erasure, she continues to bring history old and new into her work. Ashley has premiered Noir Découvert, a solo exhibition at the Eubie Blake Center in February of 2018. She has two upcoming series featuring children and historical representation to debut late 2020.
