Keva Richardson
I was born and raised in Baltimore, MD and I’ve loved art since I was a child. At age 21, I made the decision to surrender my life to Christ and since then have one, recognized that my artistic talent was not of myself, but of God, and two, have allowed Him to use me to illustrate His stories and lessons. As Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel was an illustrative guide for biblical stories, my drawings and paintings depict biblical narratives, sayings, and truths in a contemporary style. I aim at making my art the bridge that closes the gap between interest and inquiry. Although saved, I refuse to drown in self-righteousness, forgetting the issues that my people face. Therefore I also use my art to illustrate black people as royalty, a positive light that we rarely see in our society. I paint black women as queens, men as kings, children as heirs to the throne, forever acting as a reminder that we are a great and powerful people. As stated above, my life is no longer my own. I cannot say what God will do with me but, I continue to trust Him, and wait for that revelation. Until then, I’ll continue to teach, spread love, follow Him, and spread the light he so graciously blessed me with, art.
