Linda Mose Meadows
A history and art enthusiast, Linda Mose Meadows has always been intrigued with the beauty and design of quilts. She never imagined that in her retired years she too would enthusiastically embrace this gift and begin creating expressive art quilts. Linda purposely incorporates vibrant, vivid fabrics, yarns, twine, natural elements, photographs, beads, and cowrie shells to embellish her work. Each piece is completed with a mindset to celebrate and evoke her appreciation of God‘s presence, love, life, family, and the African Diaspora. She endeavors to demonstrate in her work subjects with spiritual strength and their rich ancestry.
She has enjoyed being an inspirational blogger, published devotional author, poet, public speaker, and devoted academic administrator. She relishes her years spent serving students, faculty, and administrators at the historic Hampton University. Linda grew up in Buffalo, NY, graduated from her beloved Howard University (BA) 1979 and the State University of New York, Buffalo, (MS) 1981. She has raised and nurtured a socially conscious, proud HBCU graduate and “Sigma” young man, Michael. She is the wife of Rev. Richard D. Meadows Jr. Linda is the product of a strong family unit whose parents loved cultural arts, espoused and encouraged public service, and embraced education and community engagement. She is grateful for the time to create and experience new levels in her creativity. She is especially thankful that her journey has evolved in her being a part of a collective of phenomenal, passionate-spirited quilters of the esteemed Angel Quilters of Saint Michael Episcopal Church and the African American Quilters of Baltimore. It is humbling and a blessing to be a part of a collective of tremendous fiber artists.
