Linling Lu
Linling Lu was born in 1983 in Guizhou Province, China. In 2005 she received a bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Beijing Forestry University. Lu came to the US in 2006 to attend Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), Baltimore, MD, and received a BFA in painting in 2008. She was awarded an MFA scholarship at the Hoffberger School of Painting, MICA, which she completed in 2011. Lu’s work has been selected to various exhibitions in the US, including Delaware Art Museum Centennial Exhibition, (e)merge Art Fair, Maryland Art Place, as well as by commercial galleries including CONNERSMITH and HEMPHILL Fine Arts. HEMPHILL started to represent the artist in 2012. In 2013, four groups of paintings from Lu’s One Hundred Melodies of Solitude series were displayed by CityCenter Project, Washington DC, as a permanent public collection in the lobbies of their residential spaces located in the heart of the city. Linling Lu works in Baltimore, Maryland with O-1 Visa for Artist with Extraordinary Ability granted by US Immigration.
