With my photography series, Wasted Space, I depict the way nature begins to reclaim spaces we abandon by juxtaposing natural forms with the rigid geometry of manmade structures. In portraying dilapidated landscapes void of environmental consciousness, I consider the series to be a vehicle through which I can explore the issue of sustainability and the destructive relationship we have with the environment. I intend to emphasize the collective effect of our individual actions, which we often perceive as inconsequential to the environment and highlight the paradox of modern manmade structures, as they are created to support life, not destroy it.
