Raissa Contreras
I am a filmmaker & painter living in Baltimore City. I have an MA in Digital Art (Film & Video) from Maryland Institute College of Art & an MFA in Painting from University of New Mexico. I currently teach film & media studies in the Electronic Media & Film Dept. at Towson University. I have also taught in the Art & Art History Departments at Maryland Institute College of Art, Towson University, and Goucher College. The chicken is a central motif in my paintings. It is a subject and symbol. My films are painterly. They are imagistic, impressionistic, cinema verite. My paintings and films inform one another, and I have a great reverence for traditional mediums while experimenting with tools of the digital age.
