Scott Fishpaw
Scott Fishpaw was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1972. He attended the Pennsylvania School of Art and Design and received his BFA from the Maryland Institute, College of Art in Baltimore. Introduced to the visual arts by his grandmother when he was in elementary school, Fishpaw still draws inspiration from her art lessons and considers his artwork a means of pictorial storytelling. His paintings combine icons with the unexpected juxtapositions of surrealism, creating dark and disturbing scenes of primal disorder in an unnaturally structured world. Despite the fact that his images contain very complex narratives, he paints simply to indulge his compulsion to just paint. Fishpaw lives and works in Baltimore.
