Vanessa Grebe

vg-profile

Vanessa Grebe was born in rural “horse country” Maryland. From an early age she loved to draw and paint. After her move to the Charleston area in 2012 she began working with master artist Joyce Hall, but is largely self-taught. Her body of work ranges from vintage to equine art. Her whimsical paintings tell a story and resonate with viewers on a personal level. Each painting’s interpretation is meant to be open-ended. Her equine paintings have earned awards many times over and capture the individuality and grace of the horse. Vanessa’s art was awarded placement in the mayor’s office in Mount Pleasant twice in 2016 and appears in public spaces as well. Her work was awarded “best in show” at the Mount Pleasant Arts Fest in both 2018 and 2019. In 2019 she again earned “best in show” at the Mount Pleasant blessing of the fleet and “mayor’s choice” at the North Charleston Arts Fest. Vanessa is involved in the local arts community through memberships in both the Charleston Artist Guild and the Mount Pleasant Artist Guild. Her work has been donated to causes ranging from sight awareness to local efforts to support homelessness. Vanessa’s work appears in private collections ranging from Maryland to Colorado. Vanessa currently lives and works in Mount Pleasant, SC.
